The Mikimoto universal V.I.P. special event jewelry box by Swiss Packaging
A Partnership Built on Trust and Understanding
Swiss Packaging had developed a strong and enduring relationship with the American directors of Mikimoto — one of the world's most revered fine jewelry and pearl houses. That relationship opened a door that few outside the brand's inner circle ever pass through.
Swiss Packaging was invited to visit Mikimoto in Tokyo, meeting directly with their senior management. It was a rare opportunity — and one that demanded the deepest respect for the brand, its heritage, and the culture from which it emerged.
To design for Mikimoto is to understand Japan — its history, its aesthetics, its emotional depth. The box had to carry all of that.
A Box for Special Events and VIP Presentations
The commission was specific: a bespoke presentation box for Mikimoto's most important moments — special events and VIP client presentations. Not a standard production piece, but something that would communicate the full weight of the Mikimoto name at the highest level.
It had to be worthy of the pearls it would hold. Worthy of the clients who would receive it. And worthy of a brand that has defined luxury pearl jewelry for over a century.

A Homage to Japan
Swiss Packaging's design process began not with materials or dimensions, but with Japan itself. With the streets of Tokyo, the architecture of its parks and historic buildings, the precision and restraint of Japanese visual culture, and the profound emotional resonance of the country's symbols.
The result is a box that functions as a quiet homage — to the emotions of Japan, to the history of the Mikimoto brand, and to the living tradition of Japanese craftsmanship that informs both.
The metal plaque is the flag of Japan — The Zero. The architectural influences of the beautiful buildings and parks visited in Tokyo are present in every proportion.
The metal plaque, precisely engineered and set flush into the body of the box, carries the circular form of the Japanese flag — the Zero — rendered as an architectural element of restraint and absolute precision.
Every proportion, every finish, every detail was resolved with the understanding that this object would be held in the hands of Mikimoto's most valued clients. It had to feel, in every sense, like Japan.
